mediterranean gecko

Whilst on holiday in Skiathos the girl who worked behind the bar at our appartments found this fantastic Mediterranean Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) which was being worried by a cat. She rescued it and it was fine in the end, it got a nice new home on the wall of the bar area next to the pool where the bright lights will no doubt have brought it lots of yummy moths and other insects to eat...

seasonal cicadas in skiathos

We heard these noisy bugs when on holiday in Skiathos and finaly found one singing on this telegraph pole. When out walking we also found several shells where the cicada had hatched out of their nymph stage. We snapped a photo of one (below) and brought a few shells home as there really were very lovely!
